Rising artist, songwriter and producer heka has dropped her incredible new single, ‘april (away)’. The track sets its sonic palette early, with lo-fi sounds and languid chords clashing with the sparse, lively electronic percussion. She users her intimate, melancholic voice to sing of love, loss and nostalgia. heka explains that “we have two characters sitting in the grass, one of them is April. She hides her hungry fingers in the other’s lap, full of flowers and feelings that she can’t speak of. A chorus of layered harmonies chants like a spell begging her to pull away from a love that has built itself around her like a city, like a cage.” This is heka’s first release since signing to Practise Music.
